Childrens/Education Sub-CommitteeThe Childrens/Education Sub-Committe is actively seeking ways to incorporate the gardens into children's lives. We want to promote the gardens as a place to learn, to explore and be inspired by. The children who love the garden today, will look after it tomorrow.

Over summer, on a Friday morning, once a month, children can attend 'Storytime under the Elm' in conjunction with Hobsons Bay Libraries. There are stories, songs and activities to help children appreciate our wonderful gardens. Click here for the dates. Reading Corner During school holidays, a display of books and cushions is set-up for passerbys to enjoy. Activities for Primary School Children The 'Storytime under the Elms' concept has been extended into local primary school curriculum with Prep and Grade 1 undertaking a 'Jack and the Beanstalk Treasure Hunt and 'I Spy in the Garden' activity. Edcuation resources are available to download. Additional Resources A range of educational activities and resources are available for use by teachers to fit with their curriculum. Materials and equipment for some activities is being developed and we are also able to be available (with notice) to guide lessons or give advice about the garden. |
